We caught up with The Wilderness’ lead singer Alun to answer our 5 Band of the Month questions…
What is your favourite venue to play and why?
It would be hard to choose just one venue because we are really lucky that there are so many incredible venues in South Wales and The South West, but a few choice picks from us would have to be Priston Mill Tythe Barn in Bath, Oldwalls Gower, Rosedew Farm in Llantwit Major and Coombe Lodge in Blagdon, Somerset. Absolutely stunning places with great staff.

What has been your favourite First Dance to perform live?
The One by Kodaline is always a great First Dance for us. We love learning songs for a couple’s First Dance that are completely personal to them though, because it’s great for us to see the look on guests’ faces when they see how much it means to the Bride and Groom to have the soundtrack to their relationship played by a live band. Never a dry eye!
Which song in your set never fails to take the roof off the dancefloor?
Shut Up & Dance by Walk The Moon is always a massive song for a singalong at Weddings, but we seem to find that Stereophonics’ Dakota seems to transform guests into a dancefloor full of rock stars at Welsh Weddings! Couldn’t imagine why…
What do you love most about performing with the band?
We love to have the honour of being asked to join amazing couples on one of the biggest days of their lives. We also love building a real rapport and having a singalong and dance with their guests as they get more and more well-oiled as the evening goes on!
What’s been your most memorable performance to date?
The most memorable performances for us would always have to be when you can tell the Bride and Groom have carefully planned the venue, band, bridal and grooms’ party attire, favours and venue decoration to create a vibe. We love a vibe and love to help create it with you! And generous couples who provide the band with amazing food…. of course!
